Amalapuram is a Scheduled Castes (SC) reserved Lok Sabha Constituency in Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the three constituencies from the East Godavari district, the other two being Rajamundry and Kakinada. The area used to be one of the strongholds of Congress with INC registering 8 wins in 16 General Elections held here but off late the fortunes have shifted towards TDP.

Amalapuram Election Results 2014

Amalapuram has traditionally seen a direct contest between Congress and TDP, except in 2009 Lok Sabha elections where PRP was the runner-up to INC candidate. As was seen across the state, Congress lost its relevance in state politics after the formation of YSRCP. In 2014, TDP secured 53.04% votes to emerge the winner against the 42.28% secured by YSRCP candidate.
