Sitamarhi is a city in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar. The city is considered to be the birth place of Goddess Sita.

Nagendra Prasad Yadav of Congress won three terms from here from 1962 to 1971. Nawaal kishore Rai of JD has also won three terms from here in 1991, 1996 and 1999. Veteran Bihar leader Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav, who is now in BJP, won from Sitamarhi constituency in 1989 as a Janata Dal candidate.
